If you visit a few popular blog sites that review products, there are some new rules they must adhere to by the man, the FTC. Popular bloggers are now having federal guidelines state bloggers must disclose freebies in product reviews. For example if a blogger does a product review on flat screen TVs the blogger is now required to post if they are getting paid for this or have received free products for their posts.
The FTC will most likely not only go after to fine the blogger but also the advertiser. They want to ensure it’s clear of the intentions of the posting. Some mommy sites have stated a few months back they will be disclosing what really goes behind the scenes in such cases. Many popular bloggers get approached by advertisers daily to get their products endorsed through blogger postings.
My question is how much does the government have a right to regulate and how should this go? Let me know your opinion.
